VOICES of Alameda Inc. is dedicated to revolutionizing the way we engage with the people we serve. Our unique approach sets us apart right from the very first interaction and is the bedrock for the plans of our facility. We are committed to establishing a new standard of care for the women and children under our support.
To achieve this, we will design the space in the facility with functionality & tranquility. Our space will rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. Within this haven, individuals will find a safe and nurturing environment to replenish their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Our aim is to empower them to embrace their true potential and become the best version of themselves in the world.
We will be pleased to offer art therapy as a powerful tool to aid you in interpreting, expressing, and resolving emotions while processing your thoughts. Through the medium of art, you will embark on a journey to explore your deepest emotions, gain insights into internal and external conflicts, and unravel the roots of emotional, physical, and mental distress. The ultimate goal of art therapy is to foster a profound understanding of yourself and how your body has responded to the impact of traumatic experiences.
The Wellness Space will feature a dedicated area designed to foster group activities that promote a healthy and self-sufficient lifestyle. Our diverse range of activities will encompass yoga, mindful meditation, Qigong, journaling, as well as goal and affirmations setting. Engaging in these activities together will serve as a powerful catalyst to motivate and inspire positive change, nurturing a life of well-being and empowerment.
Our organization is committed to fostering community healing, offering weekly healing circles as a regular gathering. Additionally, on a monthly basis, we will open our space to host special community healing events. These events will serve as a platform for locals to come forward and share their personal testimonies, as well as offer various healing services from diverse perspectives. Our aim is to promote comprehensive healing and well-being, encompassing all angles of the human experience.
We are dedicated to providing personalized support for self-accountability. Following your initial intake, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one check-ins with a compassionate volunteer. During these sessions, we will collaboratively explore the most suitable approach and utilize the in-house tools and services that align with your individual needs on that particular day, fostering the best possible outcome for you.
Our Food Pantry will be well-stocked with essential staples, ensuring you have everything you need to prepare high-quality meals for your family.
We are creating a secure and nurturing environment where children can play and interact with other kids while their mothers receive assistance within our facility. This dedicated space allows the children to freely express themselves and enjoy their playtime, avoiding the need to sit with their mothers during sensitive discussions with our volunteers. By providing this safe and separate space, we significantly reduce the risk of children being re-traumatized by any information inadvertently shared by their mothers during the support sessions.
A significant future objective of Voices of Alameda Inc. is to provide housing for families seeking refuge from unsafe environments, enabling them to rebuild their lives. Achieving this goal requires the collective efforts of an entire village and the support of our community. We have enthusiastic volunteers in the community who generously offer their time and expertise at their places of business to provide our ladies with empowering makeovers. These makeovers aim to ensure that our women exude confidence and professionalism, enabling them to secure their dream career jobs with a strong sense of self-assurance.
Oma’s Closet is lovingly named after a grandmother who’d take the shirt off her back if you were in need of one. Who’s love to give will take you to a place where you can discover genuine nurturing support and know that you are cherished unlike any other. Within our doors, you’ll find a collection of new and gently used clothing, all aimed at dressing our ladies for success. Our focus lies primarily on accepting business and work attire, empowering women to confidently take on their professional endeavors.
Looking ahead, our vision includes expanding our offerings to include household items, providing essential support to our ladies as they secure housing or become homeowners. With these provisions, we aim to help them embark on a wonderful new chapter, setting them up for a great start in their new homes. Oma’s Closet is more than just a place to find clothing; it’s a symbol of support, encouragement, and a bright future ahead.
